Parenting Resources
There are countless books, articles, magazines, podcasts, conferences, classes, courses and websites that are related to parenting. It can feel overwhelming and often the advice is conflicting. I am going to share some resources I have found most helpful on my parenting journey and with working with other parents.
I parent from the new paradigm of understanding our children's (and our own) behaviour from a neuro science perspective. I believe that parenting/caring for children and young people is an opportunity for our own healing and growth, as well as theirs. I emphasise that the only real parenting tool is our relationship with our children/young people. And all relationships start with ourselves. I advocate for deep self learning and awareness, which then can inform how we parent. I do not use or endorse rewards and punishments. It is my hope is to raise an empowered, Self centered (yes I think being centered in ourselves is crucial), loving, compassionate, open and joyful young person who can navigate and grow through the challenges they will face.
These lists are not exhaustive, but they are a great place to start.
I have a separate page of resources specifically for parents/carers of Autistic children and teens titled Autistic Resources. Click here for
