Deirdre Ryan with C.jpg

Life provides us with challenges so we can grow and parenting can provide the greatest challenges of all!  As we parent we are often on the growing edge, which can feel scary, lonely, overwhelming, confusing, infuriating, exhausting, isolating, daunting and hopeless.  Hang in there, you are not alone.  The parenting growing edge can also feel exciting, joyful, expansive, new, fun, creative, exhilarating and thrilling.  Whatever you are feeling or experiencing right now is perfect and I am here to support you.  You do not have to do this alone.  Whatever challenge you are facing you can grow through.  Our greatest challenges are often also our greatest teachers and healers.

My name is Deirdre Ryan, MScEd, and I too am a parent (of an amazing, creative, musical, compassionate and highly sensitive, Autistic 15 year old).  I am honoured to be a companion on your parenting journey.  I too am Autistic and I am passionate about Parent Coaching.  I feel deeply called to serving you in doing the most important work there is, parenting.  I know how important support is.

In order to support you I will bring all my experience, wisdom, passion, sensitivity, awareness, training and openness to our sessions as well as my deep listening skills and powerful questioning.  Together we will co-create unique next steps for you to take as you work towards your personal intentions/goals. Each step will be just right for you so as not to add to your overwhelm.

Each parenting journey is as unique and special as each parent and child are, and no two paths or solutions are the same.  We all parent from where we are at, so let's find out where you are and where you want to go.

Please book a FREE Discovery Session below, or email me, to find out more.  I'm super excited to work with you.

Past Client Experiences

I've had the honour and pleasure of Deirdre's parent coaching and it was utterly transformative and in my opinion world class.  I couldn't recommend her work highly enough.  A joy to be supported by her presence, wisdom and experience.  Thank you Deirdre from my heart.

Sinead B.

I found Deirdre to be kind, caring, empathetic and very knowledgeable.  I found her personality amazing and she put me at ease straight away.  She gave me confidence in my ability as a parent and helped me to dig deep to find the answers to help myself and my situation.  I would highly recommend Deirdre to anyone who could do with a bit of help and guidance on our paths to being the parents we strive to be.

Eleanor Grant

I went to Deirdre when it was time for my four year old to go back to preschool after lockdowns and also a house move, which was a big change.  I was very anxious about it as it had been a difficult start for him when he was three.  Deirdre is such a warm and caring person I felt like I could tell anything.  She helped me express a lot of the fears that I was carrying with me.  She also guided me in figuring out some strategies for myself which gave me something tangible to hold on to .  The first two days were tough, but I felt like I had someone in the background I could reach out to.  He has no problem going to preschool at all now.  I no longer dread every morning.  I could not recommend Deirdre more!

Astrid Walsh

At a time when I was swamped with grief, isolation and stress from child's father, Deirdre was a shining light in the darkness.  She tuned quickly in to my needs and aided me in pinpointing exactly what I needed to do for my mental health benefits.  Our sessions were every two weeks giving me time to implement our discussed tools and tips.  Deirdre held the space with tenderness, kindness, compassion and wisdom, which at the time were on Zoom.  I didn't believe online could feel anyway nourishing but the sessions definitely were that!

Michelle Nixon

Working with Deirdre as a parenting coach has been so helpful and nurturing, to take time out to reflect and unravel some issues and be heard and supported.  We were able to pinpoint some sticking points, especially around time and space which has been revolutionary.  My intention had been to focus on the relationship with my children.  However in our sessions I learned and remembered the importance of tackling and naming my needs.

Deirdre walks the walk and has an open, genuine, thoughtful and competent approach.  You know you are in good hands.  I can only recommend.

Carol Doyle

Thankyou for a very informative, insightful and wise session.  I loved how you spoke about self compassion and reminding me that rest is essential , helping myself to calm and regulate.  It helped me to understand emotions better and it gave me a space to reflect on how I respond to my own emotions.

I highly recommend a session with Deirdre Ryan in order to get clarity on what the next steps to take are, to see what needs attention and to move in a way that will mean the most and have the greatest impact.
In our sessions, Deirdre offered pace and space that were congruent with me.  Each time I was gently brought back to myself.  She offered a judgment free space that respected where I was at.  My next steps were clear and bite size.  Again, I highly recommend.

A Satisfied Customer

The quickest of emails to say thank you so much.  I was with this mornings group and I wanted to let you know how valued your knowledge and experience is amongst the mums I chatted to afterwards.  Even just meeting others was so beneficial for me.  I'd forgotten how isolating it can feel navigating all of this and how isolated I have been myself coming to terms with trying to support my daughter as best I can.

This is ME!

Hello. Thanks for stopping by.  My name is Deirdre Ryan, MScEd, (she/her) and I am a perfectly imperfect mother.  Becoming a mother has been and continues to be my greatest joy, my greatest challenge and my greatest opportunity for growth and I am here for it all! Although it is said we raise our children,  I believe it is our children who raise us.  They raise us up to be who we truly and authentically are by generously providing us with endless challenges that require us to dig deep to resolve.  They provide us with ample opportunities for growth and healing.

I am a highly sensitive, Autistic and passionate lone parent of an amazing 15 year old.  I am originally from New York, and presently living and growing with my child in Cork City, Ireland. I have always loved working with children and their parents/caregivers in fun, inspiring, empowering and connecting ways. I have kept that passion and drive my whole life and I continually find new and exciting ways to express that passion.  Parent Coaching has become a culmination of my life's work to date.

Why have I become a parent coach??

Simple answer, I am passionate about children and parenting and like the amazing Whitney Houston sang, "I believe the children are our future, teach them well and let them lead the way." I believe parenting can be one of the most powerful vehicles for growth, healing and change.  And I know deeply and personally that growth, healing and change can be challenging and we all need support to find our way.

Healing Journey

I too have received and continue to receive support along my parenting journey.  At each age and stage of my child's life I have found challenges to grow through.  Most, if not all, of those challenges were mine.  I needed support to heal the parts of me that were affected at each age and stage of my development that were brought up as I parented.  If I found myself reacting in a disproportionate way I knew there was some healing that needed to be done.  Each challenge has been a profound healing moment for me, and of course that shift  then ripples out to my child and all the children and adults I work with.

At different times I was confronted with my own judgments, bias, fears, patterns and conditions which no longer served me and were having a negative impact on my child.  I needed support to move through these and to move through grief at different times of separation with my child.  I've needed support through different transitions in their life. I am proud of my ability to see the need in me and to reach out.  I am proud that I am able to model that for my child.  I am proud that I have worked through fear and shame in me around asking for and receiving help.  Being able to ask for and receive help is healing in itself.

Formal Support

Over the years, as I have parented,  I have worked with a parent coach, homeopath, kinesiologist, Shiatsu practitioner, Western and Chinese herbalists, Craniosacral therapist, psychotherapist, art therapist, nutritionist and energy healers.  I will continue to reach out when I need support.  This is my commitment to myself, my child, my community, my family and my clients.

Informal Support

As well as formal support I have cultivated and nurtured an amazing group of supportive friends.  Creating deep and authentic relationships requires work, vulnerability and courage, as well as a commitment to yourself and each other.  It can take time and resilience and it is worth every moment  and every conflict to have a place where you can turn up without masks, in all your joys and sorrows, highs and lows.  Shout out to my child, my community, my sister and my parents for your ongoing love and support.  I could not parent or live as I do without all your support.  Support is central and knowing that is what has brought me in to a profession of support.

The day my child was born, I too was born as a mother and I have been learning and growing ever since, at the wildest pace and through the power of mistakes, humility and grace. By being truly present, open and curious with my child I'm constantly learning how to parent the child in front of me and how to re parent the child within me. And of course I do it all perfectly imperfectly.  Learn as you grow and grow as you go.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Each and every parenting journey is as unique and beautiful as each and every tree, raindrop or snowflake.  I am honoured you have chosen me to be a companion on your journey.  You will be deeply heard and seen in each session, with no gimmicks, tricks or simple steps to parenting.  Parenting is a profound, powerful and dynamic relationship and that relationship is unique to each family.  And through this relationship, not only can we support our children in to adulthood, I believe we can change the world.

Please note I DO NOT work with parents/carers whose children are in care or involved with legal proceedings or parents/carers court ordered to take parenting classes.  This IS NOT my skill set and I DO NOT have the experience or training in this area.
